What makes an RFQ quotable

  • A drawing, not only a modelThe model gives geometry. The drawing gives tolerances, datums, finish callouts and the note that decides the price.
  • Material and temper6061-T6 and 6061-T651 buy different stock. Say the grade, the temper and whether a mill cert is required.
  • Quantity and what comes afterOne piece now with fifty later is a different quote from one piece and nothing else. Say which it is.
  • Finish where it appliesName the faces. Ra 0.4 um on a sealing face is normal. Ra 0.4 um on every surface is a bill nobody meant to send.
  • Cleaning and packingIf the part is going near a fab, the cleaning procedure and the bagging are part of the scope. Leave them out and you get the cheap version.
